Plethico Pharma Q3 net up 39 pc to Rs 23.33 cr

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Plethico Pharmaceuticals has reported a 39 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 23.33 crore for the third quarter ended June 30, 2006, as compared to Rs 16.74 crore in the corresponding quarter previous year.

The company said its total income grew by 43 per cent to Rs 81.03 crore as against Rs 56.50 crore during the same quarter last year.

Plethico Pharmaceuticals Chairman and Managing Director Shashikant Patel said, ''Our focus on Herbals and Nutraceuticals and the rising awareness of herbals internationally has resulted in an impressive performance in this quarter. Growth in exports, especially in the CIS region and the third front that is Latin American Countries, South East Asia and GCC has been significant, contributing substantially to these figures. We will endeavour to maintain this pace going forward.'' The company recently entered the capital market with an issue of 36,66,667 equity shares at Rs 300 amounting to Rs 110 crore.

Precious metals crash on bearish global advice

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Gold and silver suffered setbacks on sustained heavy offers by stockists in view of bearish global advice, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association today said. Standard gold (99.5 purity) and pure gold (99.9 purity) opened below the Rs 10,000-mark and quoted at Rs 9,895 for standard mint gold and at Rs 9,940 for pure gold per ten gm respectively. Both the yellow metals closed still lower at Rs 9,835 for standard gold.....

Mumbai blasts prompt PM to declare 'war on terror'

On Board Air India One, July 18: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today clarified he had started using the expression ''war against terror'' after the July 11 Mumbai blasts because of the enormity of the attack.Replying to a question why he had replaced the term ''fight against terror'' with ''war'' against the menace, Dr Singh told reporters that the Mumbai attacks were an enormous tragedy, which had left 200 people dead and 800 injured.''This was an assault we have.....
