Oscar Fernandes to visit Nagaland

Kohima, Jul 18: Union Minister of State for Programme Implementation Oscar Fernandes would visit Nagaland for three days from July 20, according to Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) sources.

The visit of the Union Minister is very crucial as he is leading the team of the Centre in the ongoing talks between the Centre and the NSCN-IM.

The extension of the ongoing ceasefire between the Centre and the NSCN-IM would be reviewed in the next round of talks between the parties.

During his visit to Nagaland, the Union Minister is likely to meet senior bureaucrats of the Nagaland government and interact with the political parties, church leaders and NGOs to discuss the ongoing situation, peace process and the issues pertaining to the peace process.

The present term of extension of cease-fire between the Centre and the NSCN-IM would expire on July 31.

NPCC sources said the Union Minister would meet party leaders at the Congress Bhavan on July 20 and he would also call on the Chief Minister next day.

Car bomb in Iraq's Kufa kills 39

KUFA, Iraq, July 18 (Reuters) A car bomb hit a group of labourers in a crowded market in the southern Iraqi city of Kufa today , killing 39 people and wounding 55, police said. Pakistan arrests scores of Taliban in crackdown

QUETTA, Pakistan, July 18 (Reuters) Pakistan arrested about 52 Taliban militants in raids overnight in the southwest province of Baluchistan, taking action that Afghanistan, the United States and NATO powers have long called for. ''They are Taliban, and they have links with those living in Afghanistan. They had no documents so we will hand them over to the Afghan authorities,'' Chaudhary Mohammad Yaqub, Baluchistan's police chief, today told Reuters. A total 150 Afghans had been arrested.....

Samsung-Sony LCD panel line sales at $2.3 bn

SEOUL, July 18: A new joint flat-screen production line by Samsung Electronics Co.
