One dead in rocket barrage in N.Israel-medics

JERUSALEM, July 18 (Reuters) A fresh Hizbollah rocket barrage across northern Israel killed one person and wounded two others today, medics said.

The fatality was in the town of Nahariya.

''The Katyusha made a direct hit. The person was walking in a park ... it is a terrible sight,'' Eli Bein, director of the Magen David Adom ambulance service told Army Radio.

Medics said at least 10 towns were hit in the latest barrage. At least four rockets hit the city of Haifa, witnesses said. Channel 2 Television said some two dozen rockets had landed in the past 10 minutes.

Hizbollah rocket salvos have now killed 13 Israelis since the crisis erupted a week ago.

PM amenable to Defence Univ at Moti Bagh Palace: Capt

Patiala, July 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has agreed, in principle, to set up a Defence University at Old Moti Bagh Palace, currently occupied by Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said here today. Talking to mediapersons after presiding over a function of rural development, he said he hoped defence minister Pranab Mukherjee will soon call a meeting on the issue.
