NEHHDC to conduct "North East Craft Fair"

Pondicherry, July 18 (UNI) The North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC) will organise an exhibition "North East Craft Fair" here from tomorrow.

Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy will inagurate the fair D C Borkotoky, Deputy General Manager (Marketing) of the corporation said in a release.

He said the fair was a promotional oriented programme of the Union Government to develop handicrafts and handloom industries in the remote rural areas of the North Eastern region of the country.

Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura will be taking part in the ten day exhibition in which cane furniture, cane and bamboo basketry, cane woven items, hand printed woven textiles, among others will be exhibited, he said.

Five missing in boat capsize in Teesta

Coochbehar, Jul 18: At least five people went missing after a country boat capsized in swelling Teesta in West Bengal's remote Coochbehar district today.District Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said efforts were on to trace the missing people. He said the boat capsized in the swelling Teesta river under Haldibari block.Details were awaited.UNI.....

12000 Indians in Lebanon asked to keep papers ready

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) India has asked its 12000 nationals in Lebanon to keep their documents ready for any eventuality so that they could be pulled out from the war zone where the situation has become ''grave enough to warrant concern'', -- Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said today. Woman commits suicide by jumping before a Metro train

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) A woman commited suicide by jumping before a Metro train at at Chandni Chowk Metro Station this morning 25-year-old Paramjeet Kaur went to the rear end of the underground station, where passengers normally do not go, and jumped before a train running from Central Secretariat to Vishwa Vidyalaya at about 0920 hrs, Metro police said. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident was a case of suicide. Paramjeet, resident of Ganesh Nagar.....
