MP to seek US aid to protect Barahsinga

Bhopal, July 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government is considering to seek financial assistance from an American NGO ''Safari Club International'' for the protection of Barahsinga (swamp deer) found in Kanha National Park, Forest Minister Himmat Kothari told the Assembly today.

The population of Barahsinga, a protected animal, at the Kanha National Park is about 324 at present, he told Mr Gajraj Singh Sikarwar in a written reply.

Safari Club International, an NGO registered in America, has offered to provide grant to the Chief Wildlife Warden of Madhya Pradesh this year for the protection of Barahsingha, he said.

Since Barahsinga is found in Uttar Pradesh and Assam, besides Madhya Pradesh, any of these states was eligible to get aid from the NGO, Mr Kothari added.

Shekhawat's Sagar visit cancelled

Bhopal, July 18 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat's scheduled visit to Sagar to address Dr Hari Singh Gaur University's diamond jubilee function today was cancelled due to bad weather. Congress demands MP govt's dismissal

Bhopal, July 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has submitted a memorandum to President A P J Abdul Kalam demanding immediate dismissal of the BJP Government in view of alleged political instability, water and power crisis, deteriorating law and order situation and the government's failure to fulfil the BJP's election promises.
