Minister refutes CPI(M) leader's charge

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) Andhra pradesh Minister Civil Supplies Minister Md Shabbir Ali today refuted the charge of CPI(M) State Secretary that the government had reduced the quantum of supply of essential commodities through the Public Distribution System(PDS).

In a statement here, he said the government had issued ration cards to all eligible persons.

The government had given 5,28,151 white ration cards and supplied ten litres of kerosene to each cardholder.

The Centre had reduced the kerosene quota for the state. The government requested the Centre to release additional quota with a view to supply sufficient kerosene to the cardholders.

He said the government had supplied 7241 ton of rice this month to the Annapoorna Card holders under the 'Antyodaya , Annayojana and Annapoorna' schemes and provided 162 ton of sugar to white cardholders.

There was no truth in the CPI(M) allegation that the government was supplying sub-standard rice through the PDS.

The government was committed to provide ration cards to all eligible poor and appealed all sections to cooperate with the government in this matter.
