Man arrested for duping in name of providing jobs

Jabalpur, July 18 (UNI) A man was arrested on the charge of duping a person of Rs 5.50 lakh in the name of providing jobs to three people of a ticket collector (TC) in Railways, police said.

Rajendra Prasad Singh lodged a complaint that Nityanand Ojha (48) assured to provide a TC's job upon spending some money.

Rajendra fell in Nityanand's trap and paid Rs 5.50 lakh on March 2002 for getting admission of his son, his elder brother's son and his brother-in-law's son.

After obtaining money, Nityanand took written examination of the youths at the home of one Girijashankar and got them medically examined at the Railway Hospital.

Nityanand threatened to kill Rajendra when he demanded his money back, as the youths didn't get job after the lapse of a considerable period.

Kumar Pradhan editor of Sunachari, is honoured

Naidu takes over as Senior DGM of SWR

Bangalore, July 18 (UNI) Mr K J S Naidu has taken over charge as the Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer of South Western Railway (SWR). Mr Naidu, an officer of the Indian Railway Engineers Service of 1977 batch, had held various positions in Indian Railways, including Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Palghat and Chennai divisions of Southern Railway, a SWR release here said. 20 tonne whale washed ashore

Rameshwaram, July 18: A giant whale weighing 20 tonne was washed ashore at Pamban shore near here.Official sources said the 65-feet long mammal was alive when it was spotted by a group of local fishermen. The whale died after three hours.On hearing this, a large number of people thronged the shore to have a glimpse of the whale.Forest and fisheries department officials rushed to the spot and separated the fins of the whale and kept them.....
