Lankan Oppn leader to arrive in India on Jul 19

New Delhi, July 18: Former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will visit to India from July 19 to 23 to apprise the Indian leaders of the latest political and security scenario in the island nation, which is witnessing stepped-up violence.

During his five-day visit, Mr Wickremesinghe, presently the Leader of opposition, will meet President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan.

He will also meet Opposition leader L K Advani, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee among others.

Merger of SADA areas with MC to accelerate development: Thakur

Shimla, July 18 (UNI) The merger of Special Area Development Authority (SADA) areas with Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) will accelerate development of these areas, which were otherwise neglected under the authority, state's Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Minister Kaul Singh Thakur today claimed. Uma's resignation from MP Assembly accepted

Bhopal, July 18(UNI) Former Chief Minister Uma Bharti's resignation from the membership of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly was accepted on May 11, Speaker Ishwardas Rohani told the House today. Ms Bharti represented Malehra constituency in Tikamgarh district. AP govt to strengthen SPF, SIB, Counter Intelligence

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh government today decided to strengthen Special Protection Force (SPF), State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and Counter Intelligence to curb militant activities in the state.
