Kar. CM Kumaraswamy orders for inquiry into illegal mining

Bangalore, July 18 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy tonight said that an impartial inquiry will be held into the irregularities into the mining activities in the state amidst walk out by Opposition Congress protesting against his 'inadequate' reply.

Replying to a discussion on the Rs 150 crores bribe involving himself and Forest Minister C Chennigappa as alleged by Bharatiya Janata Party Council member G Janardhana Reddy, he said however, the government had not received any information officially regarding the charges made by the member and he had seen only the reports in the media.

Rejecting the Opposition Congress demand for ordering a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry into the issue and the irregularities in implementing the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project, he said CBI was not the only solution to such issues as in the past it had delayed the investigation process in many cases including the one involving a confessional statement made by police officer Sangram Singh in connection with fake stamp issue.

He clarified that he was not scared by any inquiry nor he would resign the Chief Minister's post as demanded by the opposition party leaders.

He said if the house agreed his government was ready to ban mining activities and that he would write to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard.
