Intensive combing operation in Chhattisgarh to nab naxals

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Intensive combing operation has been launched to nab the culprits behind yesterday's naxal attack in Chhattisgarh, which killed 31 people and injured 20 others.

Home Ministry spokesman said here today that the Centre has sent a helicopter to the Chhattisgarh government for evacuation of the injured people.

The chopper was sent on the request of the state government and the injured have been admitted in hospitals in Bhadrachalam and Khamam in Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the toll in the naxalite attack rose to 33, with the recovery of six bodies near Erabor village and death of an injured at a hospital at Bhadrachalam in Andhra Pradesh today. The people who were reported missing, have returned. They had fled the area following the attack.

A high level meeting was held by Home Secretary V K Duggal to review the internal security scenario in the country.

The deliberated on the steps to be taken to control the menace of terrorism.

The spokesman also said that the report about Tsunami warning given by some news channels was not false and there was no report of any casuality or damage from any part of the country However, states in the east coast and Andaman and Nicobar Islands were asked to keep a watch.

Australian High Commissioner to arrive in AP capital Jul 19

TDP suspends three district leaders

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today suspended three district leaders of Visakhapatnam for indulging in anti-party activities.
