Heavy rains lash North Orissa

Bhubaneswar, July 18 (UNI) Heavy rains lashed several parts of North Orissa, while moderate rains occurred in coastal and South Orissa during the last 24 hours.

Meteorological Office sources today said that there is a possibility of rains and thundershowers in the state capital during the next 24 hours.

Pantograph and Jashipur recorded the highest rainfall (five cms) followed by Thakurmunda (three cms) and Akhuapada (two cms).

Met sources said the monsoon is no more active over Orissa as it had already crossed to Madhya Pradesh.

Despite the state capital witnessing 4.1 mm rainfall today, the maximum temperature of the city was recorded 33.1 degree Celsius, almost 2.8 degree above the normal and a minimum temperature of 25.1 degree Celsius.

Dr Baseer appointed chairman of North India Committee of IUML

Akal Takht Jathedar lifts 'ban' on Mann

Amritsar, July 18 (UNI) Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Joginder Singh Vidanti today lifted the 'ban' imposed on Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) Simranjit Singh Mann for showing 'disrespect' to the Guru Granth Sahib during a religious function in the Golden Temple complex on July two. The Jathedar had banned Mr Mann and five of his party associates from holding meetings or functions at gurdwaras after SAD (Amritsar) members clashed with SAD (Badal) and Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak.....
