Goldfinch to launch Hotel Management Institute in B'lore

Bangalore, July 18 (UNI) To meet the city's booming hospitality industry's demand for trained professional workforce, the renowned Goldfinch Institute of Hotels and Institutions has come forward to launch its first Hotel Management College here.

Informing this to reporters here yesterday, Group Chairman Prakash Shetty said the college, to be opened this year, would provide world-class training by topnotch faculty from across the world and ensure 100 per cent placement to students, besides a six-months internship and two-three months training in institutes at Vatel, France. The students would be trained to handle various aspects of the industry.

He said one of the highlights of the course was that the certification and course material would be provided by the prestigious American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA), a 96-year-old association of lodging properties and companies in the US. The ALHA Educational Institute had been the premier source for providing the industry--tested research-driven hospitality training resources worldwide.

Goldfinch Group General Manager Mohammad Asif Sait said the two-year diploma course would offer specialisation in food and beverage, food production, house keeping, front office, sales and marketing.

The Group, which ran seven hotels in the country now, would be opening a seven-star hotel in Goa and a five-star hotel in Mangalore, he added.

Commercial Tax check post inspector suspended

Badwani, MP, July 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Commercial Tax Commissioner has suspended an inspector posted at Gawadi-based commercial tax check post on the charge of alleged irregularities, official source said today. Deputy Commissioner (Commercial Tax) M K Bagga and Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax) N Shakyavar said an inspector, who was posted seven months back, was suspended, while seven inspectors were transferred. IIT-Guwahati develops software for visually handicapped

Guwahati, July 18 (UNI) The students of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) have designed a software, 'Chakshu' for visually handicapped students to enable them to pursue computer related education and career.
