GET to be held on Oct 1

Tirupati, July 18 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) in collaboration with Educational Testing Service (ETS), a US based educational consultant, will conduct a Graduate Employability Test (GET) to measure a student's proficiency in communication skills on October one.

The US based educational consultant, which designed GRE, TOEFL and GMAT has designed GET for Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES).

Highlighting the salient features of GET, APSCHE Secretary MD Christopher said that the GET assessment measures a student's proficiency in communication skills and in problem solving, both analytical and quantitative.

The GET is a screening test, recommended for all final year students, graduates and post graduates, unemployed and employer, he said. The exam tests a candidate's communicative and basic computing skill, which would be useful in industries and companies for getting a better job, in the specific areas of verbal reasoning, analytical reasoning, speaking, writing, quantitative analysis and basic computing skills, he said.

He clarified that APSCHE and ETS will issue a certificate to the sucessful candidates and it indicates an individual's proficiency and highlights his/her areas of strength. He expressed hope that the GET would benefit to the industry, as it would cut down the recruitment time and reduce financial burden. The GET will be successful and the companies would accept it as standard test for recruiting candidates, he added.
