CJI lays foundation stone of an integrated complex at Dwarka

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Chief Justice of India Y K Sabharwal today laid the foundation stone of an Integrated Complex that will house three streams of knowledge and education -- Delhi Judicial Academy, National Law School and National Institute of Mediation and Conciliation at Dwarka in South West Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Acting Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Vijender Jain were guests of honour on the occasion.

The complex would be constructed on a plot of 12.19 acres with an estimated cost of Rs 108 crore in 42 months time.

Speaking on this occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Dikshit expressed confidence that the new complex would go a long way in speedy delivery of justice in Delhi by creating intelligent judicial functionaries.

She added that new complex would come up as a modern and centre of excellence in fast developing subcity of Dwarka.

While the Delhi Judicial Academy would provide judicial training, the National Institute of Mediation and Conciliation would train mediators so that they could serve as trained, competent and efficient mediators.

The National Law School would be on the lines of National Law School, Bangalore with five years law course.

All the three teaching wings would function independently of one another.

But the three institutions would share certain common facilities like the library, auditorium and cafeteria.

The entire site had been divided into two major segments -- academic and residential.

The Academic Complex would consist of Academic Block, Administration Block, Auditorium and Student's Cafeteria.

The Residential Complex would accommodate the residential premises of the office bearers of the Judicial Academy, Law School and Mediation Centre, hostel for the trainees of Judicial Academy and hostel for the students of National Law School, Mediation Training Centre trainees and guest house for visiting faculty members and guests.

The complex would also be serve by the Metro as a Metro station was located just a short distance away.

Intensive combing operation in Chhattisgarh to nab naxals

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Intensive combing operation has been launched to nab the culprits behind yesterday's naxal attack in Chhattisgarh, which killed 31 people and injured 20 others. Home Ministry spokesman said here today that the Centre has sent a helicopter to the Chhattisgarh government for evacuation of the injured people. The chopper was sent on the request of the state government and the injured have been admitted in hospitals in Bhadrachalam and Khamam.....

AP to revive coop institutions

Hyderabad, July 18 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said his government was planning to enter into an MOU with the Centre to revive short term cooperative institutions in five to six months. According to an official release here, Dr Reddy said the draft MOU had already been prepared and was being examined by the Centre and NABARD. TN Assembly to meet on July 22

Chennai, July 18 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala today summoned the State Assembly to meet at 1000 hrs on July 22, a Raj Bhavan communique here said. A notification to this effect was published in the extraordinary issue of the state government gazette, it said.
