BJP MLA's brother robbed of diamond jewellery worth Rs one crore

Rajkot, July 18 (UNI) The driver of a private travel agency stole diamond jewellery worth Rs one crore belonging to the brother of BJP legislator from Surat today.

The driver, Dilip Ahir, allegedly decamped with the booty along with the 'Tata Sumo' in which Vasant Gajera, a diamond merchant of Surat, was returning to Surat after holding an exhibition-cum-sale of jewellery there.

Vasant Gajera, elder brother MLA Dhirubhai Gajera, owns a diamond jewellery shop 'Sygnus' in Surat. There were seven more persons in the vehicle.

As per the FIR lodged by Vasant Gajera, the driver of the vehicle fled when Mr Gajera and seven other members of his party alighted near the Panchnath plot area to meet somebody at a haveli (bungalow). They returned to find the vehicle and the driver missing.

Police Commissioner K Nityanandan told UNI that it was a case of theft, and not loot. Hunt is on for the driver.

MPHC reverses death penalty, sets man free

Hearing in CPMT case adjourned for tomorrow

Shimla, Jul 18 (UNI) The Himachal High Court today adjourned the hearing in the HP Combined Pre-Medical Test (HPCPMT) case for tomorrow after hearing the arguments of the petitioner and the respondents. In its oral order, the court observed that its intention was that the purity of the examination should be maintained at all cost, saying mere suspicion would be enough for ordering a re-examination. The orders were passed on a petition filed by the Action.....

Case against Medha

Badwani, MP, July 18 (UNI) A police case has been filed against NBA leader Medha Patkar, Jagrit Adivasi Dalit Sangathan leader Madhuri and three demonstrators for targeting a janpad panchayat office at this district's Pati. After taking out a rally yesterday against alleged irregularities in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, the accused gheraoed the office and locked it. Employees managed to exit through the roof late in the night and a complaint was filed.....
