Ashok Leyland, ANG Auto tie up for tractor-trailers

Chennai, July 18: Ashok Leyland, the flagship of the Hinduja Group in India, has entered into a strategic tie-up with ANG Auto Tech Private Limited for the manufacture and supply of tractor-trailers.

Under the new agreement, ANG Auto would set up a manufacturing facility with the capacity of 6,000 trailers per annum for Ashok Leyland at its Sitarganj unit in Uttaranchal, a company release here said today.

The facility would be operational by October 2006.

The trailers would be co-branded and marketed by Ashok Leyland.

ANG would manufacture trailers in technical collaboration with FUWA Engineering, China -- one of the largest manufacturers of axles in the world.

Ashok Leyland Chief Operating Officer Vinod Dasari said the biggest advantage to the end customer was that he would get an Ashok Leyland branded fully built tractor trailer that would enable him to start earning from day one instead of waiting for months to deploy a tractor trailer on the road.

ANG Auto Ltd Managing Director Premjit Singh said the trailers would be aggressively priced to ensure that the end-users got standard international quality at competitive prices.
