Army officials to be penalised for irregularities in procurement

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Penal proceedings have been ordered against two General officers and eight other officers of the army in connection with alleged irregularities in procurement of certain items of dry ration.

GOC-in-C, Western Command, Lt Gen Daljit Singh has directed disciplinary action against one General, five other officers and administrative action against one General and three other officers, which will be initiated soon, according to an official release here.

The action came on the report of a court of inquiry, which was probing the alleged irregularities, submitted recently, revealing omissions/lapses in the functioning and discharge of duties by various functionaries.

Power situation improves, peak power demand met

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) With Delhi recieving heavy rains after a gap of nearly a week, the power situation in the capital somewhat eased today with the supply of power meeting the demand. Official sources said that the Delhi Government was able to fully meet the 3500 MW power demand during the peak time. What also helped ease the power situation was the fact that Delhi was able to get 50 MW power from Orissa,.....
