Antlers, wild animal skins and logs seized from resort

Mysore, July 18 (UNI) Police conducted a raid on a resort on the back waters of Kabini river near Beechanahalli in this district and seized antlers, wild animal skins and expensive wood today.

Police officials said that following a tip off police raided the private resort and recovered two antlers, wild animal skins, rose and teak wood stored illegally and arrested the manager of the resort. The owner of the resort was at large. A case had been registered under wildlife act.

Haryana ministers rap Bhajan Lal's son

Jamia student leader beaten by Registrar's goons

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) A former student leader of the Jamia Millia Islamia was today beaten up by some alleged goons of the University Registrar while protesting against the alleged malpractices being carried out at the official's behest.Shams Pervez was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries after about half a dozen alleged goons of the Registrar, Afzal beat him up when he was trying to stage a sit-in in front of his office this evening, according to sources......

UPSRTC employees call off their stir

Lucknow, July 18 (UNI) Agitating State Roadways Corporation (UPSRTC) employees today called off their strike unconditionally after ''positive assurance'' from the government. The employees have earlier announced to go on indefinite strike from midnight tonight. Addressing a joint press conference Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal and UPSRTC Ramji Tripathi announced that the employees have decided to call off their stir unconditionally after ''positive'' assurance from the government.
