All-India ranking tournament

Vijayawada, July 18 (UNI) The south zone All-India ranking table tennis tournament would be held here in the third week of October, according to Krishna District Table Tennis Association Secretary B Uday Kumar.

He told UNI here today that about 800 players from all over in the country would be vying for honours in the Rs four lakh prize money tournament.

He said players below 12,14,17,19 years of age besides senior men and women would also participate.

World Bank to give Bangladesh $275 mln for power

DHAKA, July 18 (Reuters) Bangladesh will receive a loan of about $275 million from the World Bank to finance a new power plant to ease electricity supply shortages that have often sparked violent consumer protests. The loan, to be offered through the bank's soft lending arm International Development Association, would be used for the Siddhirganj Peaking Power Project (SPPP) plant, the World Bank said in a statement on Tuesday. New Delhi, July 18: Tata AIG General Insurance today announced its strategic tie-up with Audatex, to provide India's first comprehensive online motor claim settlement solution, for over five lakh customers. Coffee planter attacked by pachyderm

Madikeri, Karnataka, July 18 (UNI) An elephant has attacked a coffee planter, seriously injuring him, at Banavara near Shanivarsanthe in the hilly Kodagu district of Karnataka. The incident occurred when Mariappa was taking a morning stroll inside his estate on Sunday. He fell unconscious ten feet away, when the tusker charged at him from behind.
