16-member team selected for World Jr Taekwondo Championship

Bangalore, July 18 (UNI) A 16-member team, including eight girls, has been selected by the Taekwondo Federation of India to represent the country in the 6th World Junior Taekwondo Championship, to be held in Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam from July 26 to 30.

The team: Boys: Avinash B Panchal (Fly), Kayang Darang (Bantam), Salam Johny Singh (Feather), Abdul Mobeen Khan (Light), Muhammad Abash Khan (Welter), V Lalawmpuia (Light Middle), Pranshu Singh (Middle) and Gyandeep Kalita (Heavy).

Coach: Ramesh Kumar Gupta, Head of the team: Yumnam Khemchand.

Girls: Priti Kumari (Fin), Gunjan Bala (Fly), Jayati Pathak (Bantam), Sanoujam Surbala Chanu (Feather), Nikita Meel (Light), Varsha Bende (Light Middle), Ningombam Sanajaobi Devi (Middle), Supriya B Joshi (Heavy).

Coffee planter attacked by pachyderm

Madikeri, Karnataka, July 18 (UNI) An elephant has attacked a coffee planter, seriously injuring him, at Banavara near Shanivarsanthe in the hilly Kodagu district of Karnataka. The incident occurred when Mariappa was taking a morning stroll inside his estate on Sunday. He fell unconscious ten feet away, when the tusker charged at him from behind. Mariappa was hospitalised by his family members with multiple injuries. Doctors attending on him said he had undergone hernia.....

Registration for admission to PG courses extended till July 24

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) The Delhi University today extended till July 24 the registration for admission to post graduate courses in Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research. Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing

Basirhat, July 18 (UNI) A Bangladeshi national was killed in BSF firing at Tarali under Swarupnagar police station in North 24 Parganas early today. Sources said the victim was a cattle smuggler. According to BSF, the smuggler was crossing the border with cows when BSF opened fire after making an abortive attempt to prevent him from crossing the border. Meanwhile, a body of a young Bangladeshi national was found near the international border with Bangladesh.....
