Thane Collectorate gives Rs one lakh compensation to victims' kin

Thane, July 14 (UNI) The Thane District Collectorate gave away a compensation of one lakh Rupees each to the kin of 69 victims from Thane district, who were killed in Tuesday's serial blasts on suburban trains of Western Railway in Mumbai.

Thane District Collector Nanadakumar Jantre had set up three teams specially for distribution of this assistance.

An official spokesperson of the district collectorate said yesterday that all but one dead of the total 70 from Thane district had been identified.

Of the total dead, 25 were from Mira-Bhayender and the rest from Vasai, Virar and other locations, he said.

Of the 90 injured, 50 were treated and allowed to go while the balance are still being treated at various hospitals in the district, he informed.

He also said that the seriously injured have been given Rs 50,000 while those with minor injuries Rs 5,000.

Muslims pledge cooperation in bomb blasts' probe

Mumbai, July 13 (UNI) Noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt today led a delegation of Muslim organisations to meet Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and assured him of full co-operation from the community to the state admininistration, in the wake of the serial bomb blasts. ATS recovers leads; investigation followed up

Mumbai, July 13 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) probing the Tuesday's serial train bomb blasts today said it has received some 'clues and leads'. Joint Commissioner of Police R P Raghuvanshi, who is also the in-charge of ATS, told mediapersons here that, ''We have some leads and the investigating team is following them up.'' To a poser, he said some electronic material has been recovered from the site of Mahim blast, which has been sent for.....
