New Delhi, July 13 (UNI) Free distribution of tree saplings will start at 70 Mother Dairy outlets, 439 CNG and petrol filling stations and at Delhi Haat from Monday, Delhi Government said today.

The saplings were already being distributed through 13 nurseries in the state. An official spokesman said school children would plant about 2,000 saplings tomorrow in an ash dumping ground near the Badarpur Thermal power plant.

As against the target of 4.5 lakh saplings, five lakh saplings were distributed in the capital during the last monsoon season. The target this year was the distribution of six lakh saplings.

According to the spokesman, state Environment Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan pulled up the MCD, the PWD and CPWD for not meeting their targets on distribution of saplings. The Minister said these bodies could face problems in getting clearance for projects in future unless they met their targets.
