Muslims pledge cooperation in bomb blasts' probe

Mumbai, July 13 (UNI) Noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt today led a delegation of Muslim organisations to meet Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and assured him of full co-operation from the community to the state admininistration, in the wake of the serial bomb blasts.

He told the Chief Minister that Muslims would help the agencies working to restore peace and in nailing the perpetrators of the crime.

The delegation said their community leaders and intellectuals felt that there is a conspiracy by political parties, terrorists and religious fundamentalists to create an atmosphere against them. ''We have to unitedly fight this conspiracy and not allow the designs of divisive forces to succeed,'' noted lawyer Majeed Memon, who was also a part of the delegation, told reporters after meeting the Chief Minister.

The delegation also appealed to Mr Deshmukh that the administration should ensure that the community is not under duress during investigations.

On the alleged role of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi in foamenting communal trouble, Mr Memon said police should investigate and do the needful, if the allegations are true.

Congress MLA Naseem Khan said anybody acting against national interests has no religion.

Mah Govt seeks explanation from mobile Co about jamming of services

Mumbai, July 13 (UNI) The Maharashtra government today sought an explanation from the mobile companies, asking them to explain the reasons behind jamming of their services soon after Tuesday's serial bomb blasts in Mumbai. Talking to reporters here, Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil said the mobile companies should explain the causes behind the jamming of their networks and asked them to clarify the steps that need to be taken to ensure uninterrupted services.....

Ban on entry of visitors to NSCBI Airport

Kolkata, Jul 13 (UNI) Entry of visitors to the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International Airport was banned from 1830 hours today. ''The ban has been imposed for an indefinite period,'' according to Mr Kashinath Tripathi, Commander (eastern region), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), NSCBI Airport.
