Bangalore, June 30 (UNI) The Corps of Detectives investigating the 2.33 lakh pound cyber fraud involving a HSBC Data Processing India Ltd (HDPI) employee and some of his connections in London, have been in touch with the UK police in an effort to bring to light the real players in the BPO fraud.

Official sources in CoD today said that the state police have sought the details of complaints filed by the customers of HSBC in England from the police of that country.

The accused Nadeem Kashmiri, an employee of HDPI, a subsidiary of HSBC, was arrested by the CoD sleuths on July 27 following a complaint by his employers that he was involved in theft of personal data of their customers in UK.

Nadeem was remanded to police custody till July four by a city court. He had revealed during interrogation that he had passed on the information to some unidentified persons in UK over cell phone.

Though he did not know their identity, he had provided their cellphone numbers to the police and also provided some more information in this case.

The fraud came to light after some account holders in Britain had complained to HSBC that money in their accounts had been debited without their knowledge. Following this HDPI filed a complaint with the cyber crime police station.

In its complaint, the bank alleged that Nadeem had accessed personal, security and debit card information of some of its customers in the UK and passed it on to 'co-fraudsters' for conducting the transactions.
