Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy informed this in the Legislative Council today after presenting the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fixation of fee) Bill-2006.

He said the High Court, in its order, had upheld the Medical Council of India (MCI)'s guidelines as per which marks obtained in CET only need to be considered for awarding the rankings for the admissions into medical and dental courses and given a go by to the practice of clubbing both marks obtained PUC and CET for deciding the ranking.

The Minister said for Engineering courses, the marks obtained in both CET and PUC would be considered for awarding rankings.
