Talking to newspersons after chairing the party's district secretaries meet at Anna Arivalayam here, he said when Ms Jayalalithaa had complained about law and order, she meant the ''MGR Nagar incident'', where more than 40 people were trampled to death in a stampede at a flood relief centre, during the previous AIADMK regime.
On AIADMK leader's charge that Ministers and ruling partymen were involved in smuggling of rice, meant for distribution through the Public Distribution System (PDS), Mr Karunanidhi said Ms Jayalalithaa obviously meant the involvement of ''former'' ministers.
Mr Karunanidhi said, ''he had no knowledge'', when asked about reports that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing into the receipt of three lakh US dollars by Ms Jayalalithaa, had sought permission from the state assembly Speaker to proceed further in the case. ''I do not know anything about this..I have also read the news,'' he added.
Asked whether permission from the Speaker was required to proceed further in the case, the Chief Minister said he had no idea and had to consult legal experts on this. ''I have no information about this,'' he reiterated.
