Gujarat ministers to donate Rs 1.30 lakh to breaved family of Pravin

Gandhinagar, June 21 (UNI) Gujarat ministers will donate Rs 1.30 lakh to the bereaved family of Pravin Joshi, who succumbed to his burn injuries yesterday.

Twenty-year-old Pravin, who hailed from Porbandar, had allegedly tried to immolate himself on June 11 in protest against the screening of Aamir Khan-starrer Hindi film 'Fanaa' at a Jamnagar theatre. He died at Guru Govind Singh Hospital yesterday afternoon.

This decision was taken at a cabinet meet held here today. All the ministers, including Chief Minister Narendra Modi, will contribute Rs 5,000 each for this.

The Brahma Samaj, Kadwa Patidar and Narmada Committee of Jamnagar have also decided to chip in their contribution to be handed over to the bereaved family, says offical sources here.

The youth was protesting against Aamir Khan sharing the platform with the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) activists, who were on hunger strike to stall the work on Sardar Sarovar Dam Project on the River Narmada.
