HSL hands over "Sagar Manjusha" to NIOT

Visakhapatnam, June 16 (UNI) ''Sagar Manjusha'', the specialised research-cum-buoy tender vessel built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) for the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) was delivered here today.

The vessel was handed over to NIOT Director K Prem Kumar by HSL Chairman and Managing Director Rear Admiral Ajit Tewariat at the HSL jetty. It was the 138th vessel built by HSL.

The 1,000 tonne, 60 metres, fully air-conditioned ''Sagar Manjusha'' has two main engines and can attain a maximum speed of 12 knots.

The vessel can accommmodate 11 scientists, eight officers and ten crew. It is also equipped with two bow thrusters, specialised deck cranes, deep sea winch with a frame for carrying out scientific activities.

BJP demands CMs' meet on fuel price hike

Hyderabad, June 16 : Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today demanded that the Centre convene a meeting of all state chief ministers to discuss the issue of hike in prices of petroleum products.Talking to newspersons here, Mr Naidu said the UPA government should organise the meet and discuss the issue of rationalisation of sales tax on petro products in the states.
