Implementation of Cyber Law important: Kumaraswamy

Bangalore, June 2 (UNI) As Information Technology has entered every sphere in the present Society, enacting of proper Cyber Law and its proper implementation assumes importance to curb Cyber crime, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today.

In his presidential speech at the inauguration of International Institute of Information Technology Law (IIITL) here, he said that institutes like IIITL could help the Government to draft effective Cyber Laws which could tackle the Cyber crime which was on the rise.

Speaking as Guest of Honour, IT giant Infosys Chief Mentor N R Narayana Murthy said that IT was a complex subject which cannot be seen or felt but can only be experienced. However, it can be duplicated easily which can create serious problems.

Hence, three factors assumed importance in making laws to tackle Cyber crimes like effective law to eliminate piracy, e-commerce conducted strictly according to law and ensuring that no individual was adversely affected due to the use of computer software or the internet.

In his inaugural address Chief Justice of Karnataka Cyriac Joseph said perception about justice should be carefully considered as it did not work on 'arithmetical equality' nor was it as simple as that.

"People should not over simplify things when it comes to sense of justice. Otherwise there will be turmoil and divide in the society.

In a Just Society any one can aspire for what he needs, but one would get only what he deserves. Hence spirit of sacrifice is very important. We should not make such a law which leads to turmoil in society," he lamented.

The Chief Justice regretted decision making had become mechanical in our country and democracy was reduced to mere majority. Decision making should precede with proper deliberations an discussions, particularly by taking the views of the opposing ones, he added.
