Germany to scout partners at Bangalore Bio

Bangalore, May 31: India's leading biotechnology show, Bangalore Bio, commencing its sixth edition on June seven, will see leading players in the field from Germany seeking partners in India during the Business-to-Business event.

Major players from Germany at the Bangalore Bio were Biobase, SEnova, BASF Plant Science, BIO NORD, Invest in Germany, University of Hannover and Roche Diagnostics, besides German research institutions and Research Centre for Infectious disease.

The German mission was coordinated by the international Technology Cooperation Network, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour of the German Government. The network currently operated in 15 countries to catalyse and support technology cooperation between Small and Medium Industry and research institutions.

Bangalore Bio would have the largest ever presence with over 150 exhibitors and 500 delegates. The show, organised by the Karnataka IT and BT department, besides the Association of Biotechnology led Enterprises, would witness a multi-dimensional conference to highlight key trends and developments in biotechnology.

The conference, with the theme 'Discover, Nurture and Accelerate', would offer a strategic view to the swiftly growing biotechnology industry at the global and regional level. It would have star-studded international speakers and luminaries in their respective fields, highighting trends and developments that would shape the future of the industry, Karnataka IT and BT Principal Secretary Dr Anup K Pujari said in a release here.

The CEO conclave, an exclusive industry get toether, would see a vision talk by Dr R A Mashelkar, Secretary of the Union Scientific and Industrial Research Department.

The three-day conference would discuss various issues, including clinical development in India, drug discovery, investment landscape in Indian biotechnology, human resource and vaccines.

Court grants relaxation in Bapat's anticipatory bail

Mumbai, May 31 (UNI) A special court today granted relaxation to former Mumbai police Commissioner Shreekant Bapat on the conditional anticipatory bail granted to him in connection with the 1999 MPSC scam. Calsoft rights issue fully subscribed

New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) California Software Company Ltd (Calsoft) today announced that its Rights issue which closed on May 25, 2006, had been fully subscribed. The company had made an offering of 34,44,762 equity shares of face value Rs 10 at a price of Rs 66 each, aggregating to Rs 22.74 crore in the ratio of seven rights equity shares for every 10 equity shares held as on April 12 2006. TN House adjourns sine die

Chennai, May 31 (UNI) The week-long first session of the newly constitued 13th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die today. The session, which began on a discordant note with the AIADMK-led opposition boycotting the Governor's address on May 24, adjourned sine die after the House passed a resolution, urging the Centre to promulgate an ordinance, providing 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions.
