International services to Bajpe airport from May 29

Mangalore, May 26 (UNI) The much-awaited International flight service to the Bajpe airport, near here, which could not start due to various reasons, is likely to commence from May 29.

A top official of the Airports Authority of India at said the chartered flight from Sharjah, which was rescheduled to arrive here yesterday, had once again been postponed due to some confusion in the gulf country over starting the flight service.

Though the airport expected the Russian-made aircraft, TU 154, with a seating capacity of 150, to arrive today, reports received by the authorities indicated that it was likely to arrive only on May 29, he said.

The airport had constructed a new runway at a cost of Rs 45 crore and created other infrastructure for operating international flights. It was recently declared as a customs airport.

Centre, NDFB signs MoU to suspend operation

New Delhi, May 27 : The government and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland have signed a Memorandum of Understanding today for ''the suspension of operation'' for another six months, home ministry sources said here.
