WR suburban train services resume

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) The Western Railway (WR) commuters, who had been harassed for the past two days due to cancellation of suburban train services between Borivali and Virar stations on the route as a major maintenance work was underway, were overjoyed after the services resumed this morning.

WR Chief Public Relation Officer Pranay Prbhakar said that trains are running 15 to 20 minutes behind the schedule, but no trains were cancelled. However, outstation trains are running on time.

During the mega block on the route especially between Goregaon and Virar, passengers had lot of trouble, even long distance trains were delayed for more than three hours or so.

WR had cancelled a total of 476 suburban trains during the period. The suspension of service was due to yard remodelling works being carried out at Borivili station and quadrupling of tracks along the Borivili-Vasai route, he added.
