Women Commission to issue fresh summons against Udit

Patna, May 22 (UNI) Bihar Women's Commission will issue fresh summons against noted playback singer Udit Narain after he failed to turn up before it today in connection with charges of bigamy levelled against him by Ranjana Jha, who claims to be his first wife.

Women's Commission President Manju Prakash said Narain failed to turn up before the Commission in response to its earlier summon. She said the fresh summon would be the third one.

Ms Prakash said the Commission would seek legal opinion from state Advocate General and recommend for suitable action against him if the singer failed to turn up before the Commission even after issuance of the third summon.

Earlier, Ms Ranjna Jha had filed complaint in the Commission, accusing the singer of bigamy as he was ''living with another lady in Mumbai'' despite the fact that Ms Jha was married to the singer in presence of a large number of relatives according to Hindu rites in 1986.
