2 yrs of unfulfilled promises under UPA : BJP

New Delhi, May 22: The BJP today said the last two years under the UPA Government were nothing but a regime of unfulfilled promises where corruption and price rise leaped beyond control even as internal security dangers clouded the country.

BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra said the common was burdened with skyrocketing prices of essential commodities affecting every single household while corruption and scandals had become the order of the day.

He said during the last two years the ISI had widened and deepened its terror bases and Naxals and Maoists were flexing muscles leaving the common man scared.

The Congress and the UPA had made several promises but many still remained a dream. They Congress aligned with Telangana Rashtra Samiti promising a separate state and after two years in power, this assurance was yet to see the light of the day. ''Both Congress and TRS are to be blamed for this,'' he added.

The UPA Government, he said, had not acted decisively against scamsters although the coalition promised a clean regime. The Government willfully facilitated defreezing of the bank accounts of Bofors key player Ottavio Quattrocchi's London bank accounts and no action was taken against the Congress and its president Sonia Gandhi named in the UN's oil-for-food programme probe headed by Paul Volcker.

When queried that Mrs Gandhi's name was not mentioned in the report, Mr Malhotra asserted coupons were secured after handing over the letter signed by her.

The questionable Scorpene submarine deal was much bigger a purchase scandal than the Bofors but nothing was done to punish the culprits, he alleged.
