Two policemen among 10 injured in Srinagar blast

Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) Ten people, including two Jammu and Kashmir police personnel were injured in a militant attack in the down town city this afternoon.

Official sources said militants this afternoon hurled a hand grenade towards security forces at Rainawari in the down town city.

The grenade exploded on the roadside causing injuries to ten persons, including two policemen. The injured were admitted to different hospitals, sources said.

This was the first attack by militants in the city after two fidayeen in police uniform resorted to indiscriminate firing during a Congress rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Municipal Park near here yesterday in which seven people were killed and scores, including two senior police officers, wounded.

WHO chief Lee dies after blood clot on brain

GENEVA, May 22: The head of the World Health Organisation, Lee Jong-wook of South Korea, died today after suffering a blood clot on the brain, the United Nations agency said.Lee was 61 and had been WHO director-general since 2003.''I am sorry to tell you that Dr Lee Jong-wook, director-general of the WHO, died this morning,'' Spain's Health Minister Elena Salgado told the opening session of the agency's annual assembly.Lee underwent an operation on Saturday to remove.....
