Total value of commodity futures at Rs 21.34 lakh crore, up by 274%

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The total value of commodity futures trade for the year 2005-06 was Rs 21.34 lakh crore as compared to Rs 5.71 lakh crore during the previous year with an increase of 274 per cent.

The volume of trade has also gone up to 6685 lakh tonnes during the current fiscal as comapred to 1942.1 lakh tonnes during last year, an increase of 244 per cent, said, a PIB release here today.

The trading volume and value have increased manifold after the three national level exchanges were set up.

National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ahmedabad (NMCE) started trading in November 2002 while Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd, Mumbai (MCX) and National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Ltd, Mumbai (NCDEX) started trading in November 2003.

Three die, two injured after being run over by DTC bus

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Three persons died while two others were injured when a DTC bus ran over them in Northwest Delhi early today, police said. The five persons, including two women, were crossing the road after alighting from a Punjab Roadways bus at Makarba Chowk when the DTC bus, plying at the Outer Ring Road crushed them, the police said. Ignorance on Office of Profit led to confusion: Speaker

Unseasonal rain continues in MP

Bhopal, May 22 (UNI) Unseasonal rain, in the usually-scorching month of May, has weakened the summer's grip over Madhya Pradesh. A weather centre official said an upper air cyclonic circulation over the state's north-eastern part, coupled with moisture-laden winds, was causing the precipitation. Day temperature plummetted by about five notches in most parts of Madhya Pradesh and hovered between 34 and 39 degree Celsius while the minimum was in the 22-26 degree Celsius range. The.....
