Three killed, nine injured in road mishap

Nashik, May 22 (UNI) At least three people, including two women, were killed and nine others injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling fell into a gorge in Bokardara village of the district today.

According to police, the mishap occurred when the Tata Sumo fell into the gorge after it was hit by a speeding truck while going to Aurangabad from Mumbai.

Eleven caterers including two women were travelling in the Sumo t organise feast at a wedding function. The two women caterers and the Sumo driver died on the spot.

Meanwhile, the injured have been admitted to a rural hospital in the Nifad tehsil here.

A case has been registered and police has launched a search for the absconding truck driver.

National Sample Survey Organisation teams to tour villages

Badwani, MP, May 22 (UNI) National Sample Survey Organisation teams would undertake tours of submergence-affected villages and rehabilitation sites in connection with the preparation of the Shunglu Committee report to be submitted to the Prime Minister's Office in the context of the Sardar Sarovar Project, official sources said. SMG Bank's fresh plans for expansion

Kozhikode, May 22 (UNI) Rural banking major South Malabar Gramin Bank (SMGB) posted net profit of Rs 17.04 crore and registered total business of Rs 2613 crore at 20 per cent growth rate in 2005-O6. Speaking to newspersons here, Thomas Mathew, Chairman, said the bank had posted net profit of Rs 19.16 crore during 2004-05, but it came down by Rs 2.14 crore due to slashing of interest rates. AP Govt to amend Registration Act

Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today decided to amend the Registration Act, to prohibit registration of properties belonging to government, religious or charitable institutions, as per High Court orders. According to official sources, the Government would modify Section 22-A of the Act to define documents 'opposed to public policy'.
