Subramanian Swamy condemns Srinagar killings

Chennai, May 22: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy condemned the terrorist attack on a Youth Congress rally in Srinagar yesterday in which 'nine people were killed.' In a statement here today, he said ''the audacious attack is not only condemnable with all the emphasis at our command but is an eye-opener to the nation.'' The UPA Government's 'consistent capitulaton to secessionists and terrorists' has brought only more demands for concessions and violence, he alleged.

''It is significant the terrorist chose the function of the Youth Congress organised to observe the day of martyrdom of Rajiv Gandhi,'' he said.

Sati incident turns out to be case of revenge killing

Lucknow, May 22 (UNI) The woman, whom villagers claimed had committed 'sati' in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh, was in fact forced to jump on her husband's burning pyre by her brothers-in-law police today said. Fatehpur police, which had earlier registered a case under section 306 of IPC against Vidyawati's brothers-in-law and about 200 villagers for abetting the crime, has now converted the case into that of murder.
