Students agitation pains me: Manmohan

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Even as the UPA government was celebrating its second anniversary, the one thing disturbing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was the issue of reservation.

It was evident from the words of the Prime Minister when he spoke to journalists during a dinner hosted by him on the occasion.

An emotional Dr Singh said, ''A large number of students are in agony. This is something that pains me.'' ''We will talk to all political parties to resolve the issue. We have no hesitation in meeting anyone. In fact, we have sent several messages to the students inviting them for talks to clear their doubts,'' Dr Singh added.

Asked about the decision of the Hurriyat and other separatist groups to boycott the roundtable conference on Kashmir, the Prime Minister said, ''It does not surprise me.'' ''Someday they (separatists) will realise that standing apart will not help,'' he added.
