RS MP seeks 'decent' arrangements for Railways exam seekers

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) BJP member in the Rajya Sabha L K Chaturvedi today asked the Railways to make adequate arrangements for candidates appearing for its recruitment examinations from the states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Mr Chaturvedi took the Railways to task for not making adequate travel arrangements for candidates attending the examinations.

They were made to travel on roofs of the trains even though it concerned the Railways, and no special trains were run, he alleged, adding that at many places there was lathicharge by the Railway Protection Force and the regular ticket holders were put to a great deal of inconvenience.

These candidates must be provided decent travel arrangements instead of being herded like animals, he said.

MP medicos asked to vacate hostels

Bhopal, May 22 (UNI) Taking a tough stand against the agitating medicos in Madhya Pradesh, the government today served them notices to immediately return to duty or vacate the hostels in two or three days. Bhopal's Hamidia Hospital Dean Nirbhay Shrivastava said health services remained affected due to the strike, but emergency services were being maintained. Madhya Pradesh Junior Doctors Association spokesman Amit Vyas said relay hunger strike by the medicos continued and junior doctors.....

PMK wants ordinance on quota

Chennai, May 22 : Asserting that there should not be any dilution in providing 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in institutions of higher education, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today said it was not averse to increasing the number of seats, but wanted the Centre to promulgate an ordinance on reservation.PMK Founder Leader S Ramadoss told reporters here that an ordinance was necessary as it would help OBC students enjoy the benefits of reservation from this academic year itself......

Stem Cell Research Guidelines soon:Sibal

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The national guidelines for stem cell research and therapy is being formulated jointly by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal today said. A drafting committee has formulated the guidelines, which will be put on the ICMR website to elicit response from all the stakeholders before finalising them, Mr Sibal told the Rajya Sabha.
