Recall Indian ambassador from Vatican: VHP

Indore, May 22 : Observing that Pope Benedict's statement on conversion infringed on India's sovereignty, Vishwa Hindu Parishad Secretary Mohan Joshi has urged the Centre to recall its Ambassador to Vatican and register a case of treason against the Bishops and others who supported the Pope.

Stating that involuntary conversion was banned by the Constitution also, Mr Joshi told mediapersons here yesterday that Pope's statement was aimed at putting pressure for revoking anti-conversion laws.

Demanding that UPA leader Sonia Gandhi condemn Pope's statement, he said if she did not do so, it would be considered as a support to the Pope.

The VHP leader said the states should effectively implement the anti-conversion laws.
