''Parliament proclamation is Nepal's version of Magna Carta''

Kahtmandu, May 22 (UNI) British ambassador to Nepal Keith Bloomfield has said that House proclamation is Nepal's version of Magna Carta and will help establish peace in the Himalayan country, media reports today said.

The constitutional crisis in the country would be resolved with the election to the Constituent Assembly, Mr Bloomfield said, according to the Himalayan Times.

''The international community wants to see a peaceful, stable and prosperous Nepal,'' he said.

''A lot needs to be done to protect human rights in the new political climate here'' the ambassador said, adding the international community was ready to help Nepal in this regard.

The ''historic'' proclamation last week that cut off the powers of the King and brought Army under the purview of parliament, was welcomed from all sectors and international community.

BMC removes 4,00,850 cubic meter silt from Mithi river

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) today said that it had removed four lakh and 850 cubic meter silt from Mithi river. In a release issued here, the civic body stated that it had been entrusted with the responsibility of widening the Mithi river from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) road, Kurla upto Powai, about 11.8 km in length.
