Orissa police nab noted criminal Rajan Sanyasi

Rourkela, May 22 (UNI) Dreaded inter-state criminal Rajan Sanyasi and his associate Mahendra Tanti were arrested by a special police team of Sundergarh at Bagichapada, about 40 kms from here, yesterday, police said today.

Police said Rajan was arrested after an encounter in which he sustained bullet injuries on his leg and body. He was taken to the Sundargarh Hospital for treatment.

However, another associate of Rajan escaped from the spot. The police have seized a revolver and five cartridges from their possession.

Additional police force were deployed in the area soon after the arrest of Rajan following tension in Bagichapada in Rajgangpur.

Rajan and his associates had kidnapped Manoj Samal and Debendra Thakur from Usra under Kuarmunda outpost, killed them and threw their bodies into Kansbahal Dam in June last year. Rajan executed it to avenge the killing of his brother Gyana Sanyas by Manoj and Debendra UNI XC DP TJP SHR DB2005

youth dies in bike accident

Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) A youth died while his pillion rider was seriously injured when their bike hit an electric pole as the traffic police tried to intercept them for driving without a helmet. Edible oil worth Rs 40 lakh destroyed in fire

Latur, Maharashtra, May 22 (UNI) Edible oil, estimated at Rs 40 lakh, was gutted in a major fire that broke out in the godowns of Om Enterprises, a leading Vanaspati oil distributor, in Ganjgolai market in the city here today.
