Naveen protests delay in solving RSP oustees, dashes letter to PM

Bhubaneswar, May 22 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today strongly condemned the Centre's apathetic attitude in resolving the rehabilitation issue regarding the Rourkela Steel Plant(RSP).

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Chief Minister said despite repeated requests from the state government, the Centre had not taken any step to rehabilitate 1098 families displaced by the RSP.

Stating that such a non-cooperative attitude from the Centre on the rehabilitation issue was not justifiable, Mr Patnaik urged the Prime Minister to take immediate steps to resolve the problems of the RSP oustees.

The Chief Minister hoped that the Centre would consider the five decade old case on humanitarian grounds. A copy of the letter was also sent to Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
