MP Cong chief named in payoffs diary

Bhopal, May 22 (UNI) A major political controversy is rising in Madhya Pradehs after the name of state Congress President Subhash Yadav, who was deputy chief minister during the Digvijay Singh regime, allegedly figured in a diary seized during an Income Tax raid on a company in Hyderabad, sources said.

The diary apparently mentioned names of political leaders and bureaucrats who were paid crores of rupees by the company for obtaining contracts. Mr Yadav received Rs 2.85 crore, as per the diary seized last year and made public through media.

Trashing the allegation, Mr Yadav -- who is also a former water resources minister -- said, '' I have never accepted money from any company. This appears to be part of a conspiracy.'' The BJYM's district unit workers staged a protest demonstration here today against Mr Yadav.

Hyderabad's Madhukan Project Ltd, which builds and develops infrastructural facilities such as roads, has been active in Madhya Pradesh for about a decade.
