More SC/ST children go to school under SSA

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) The percentage of out of school children in the Scheduled Caste category has declined from 31.87 per cent in 2001 to 8.17 per cent in 2005 under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeshwari said in a written reply that the percentage of out of school ST students has declined from 40.01 percent in 2001 to 9.54 percent in 2005.

In another reply, she said that SSA sanctioned 2643 primary schools, 1978 upper primary schools, 55,529 education guarantee centres. It provided support for teaching-learning of the formal elementary education curriculam in about 10,700 Maqtabs/ Madarsas in districts with substantial muslim population in 2005-06.

Govt. to review dispute resolution mechanism for NHAI projects
