Marandi supporter Paritosh Soren resigns

Dumka, May 22 (UNI) Dumka district BJP 'Anoosochit Janjati Morcha' (Scheduled Tribe Front) president Paritosh Soren today resigned in support of former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi.

Mr Marandi resigned from the post of BJP national vice-president and Lok Sabha MP on May 18 and floated a regional party.

Mr Soren told mediapersons that he was quitting to support Mr Marandi.

''More supporters would be joining Mr Marandi soon,'' he claimed.

Dumka is the centre of Santhal Parganas, where Mr Marandi has strong foothold. The seven staunch Marandi supporters, out of a total of 30 BJP MLAs in 82 membered assembly, have formed a pressure group within the BJP.

Sonia commends allies wholehearted support to govt

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today congratulated Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his leadership and the consituent parties for their support in seeking to fulfill the common minimum programme to build a democratic, secular and equitable society. TRS chief meets PM on Telangana issue
