Kumaraswamy asks officials to implement policies, programme

Bangalore, May 22 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today urged the State bureaucracy to gear up the machinery and ensure implementation of various policies and programmes announced during the first 100 days of the JD(S)-BJP coalition government.

Addressing a meeting of Principal Secretaries at the Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat here, he said within the next 100 days the announcements made both in the Budget for the current fiscal and outside should be implemented.

Referring to complaints of tardy administration in districts, he urged the senior officials to camp in districts for two days in a month to ensure that the government policies and programmes were on stream.

Mr Kumaraswamy said the Finance Department had made it amply clear that funds would not be a constraint for developmental works and urged them to ensure that works were implemented in an effective manner.

He also urged the officials to ensure that encroached land in the Bangalore metropolis was freed.

Later, talking to newspersons here, he said the government had received a couple of proposals for a Monorail pilot project for 18 km between Kanakapura and Bangalore. The Government was looking into the proposals, he added.

British factory workers flee explosive fries

Companies keen to open hotel management institutes

Chandigarh, May 22 (UNI) The Haryana government has received good response from reputed private companies for collaboration in opening the state-of-the-art Hotel and Hospitality Management Institutes at Tilyar Lake, Rohtak and Badkhal Lake, Faridabad.Minister of State for Tourism Kiran Chaudhary said as many as 26 major companies had sent their expression of interest in this regard.The groups, which have applied for this purpose, included reputed management institutes, hotel chains, societies, firms possessing experience and expertise in the field.....

CM launches annual credit plan

Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy today launched the state's new annual credit plan with a projected outlay of Rs 37,000 crore. This outlay was set against the previous year's Rs 28,899 crore. The plan proposed to disburse Rs 13,000 crore to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) compared to last year's Rs 19,956 crore. Launching the annual credit plan here, Mr Reddy said the increased lending to Self Help Groups (SHGs).....
