KAADC session convened to elect new CEM

Diphu, May 22 (UNI) A special session of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council (KAADC) has been summoned on May 27 to elect its new Chief Executive Member (CEM).

A notification to this effect was issued by Asom Governor Lt Gen.

(retd) Ajoi Singh today, official sources said.

The new CEM will choose his executive committee and the list would be sent to the Governor for approval through the Hills Area Development minister.

The election has been necessitated following the election of incumbent CEM Khor Sing Ingti as an MLA.

Mr Ingti has also been inducted as a Cabinet minister in the new ministry, with charges of hills area development, veterinary, animal husbandry and mines and minerals.

Sudan denies violation of Darfur truce

KHARTOUM, May 22 (Reuters) Sudan today denied Darfur rebel reports that its troops had attacked their camps and breaking a ceasefire and a peace deal signed this month to end the conflict which has killed tens of thousands. The peace deal was signed under intense global pressure on May 5 between the government and one main rebel faction. But two other rebel factions refused to sign, saying the deal was unfair. Man Industries net profit up by 91.32% at Rs 35 crore

New Delhi, May 22 (UNI) Man Industries (India) Ltd, manufacturer and exporter of SAW Pipes and Aluminium Extrusion, today announced it has registered a net profit of Rs 35.05 crore with a 91.32 per cent increase for the year 2005-06 as against the previous year.The total sales for the current fiscal stood at Rs 869.93 crore as against Rs 510.34 crore in the previous year, with an increase of 70.46 per cent.The Earnings per Share (EPS) for the.....
