More than 200 party supporters, led by party general secretary Shailendra Maithy, sat on dharna demanding introduction of reservation for the backward and oppressed sections of the society.

Earlier, the Jharkhand Party (N) activists also took out a torch rally on May 20 to extend the party's support to the pro-reservation lobby.

Talking to UNI, Mr Maithy said, '' We support the UPA government's reservation policy as about 68 per cent population in India belongs to OBC, while in Jharkhand the percentage touches nearly sixty. We demand to introduce reservation in education from primary to higher level. ''.

Mr Maithy said the JP (N) would submit a memorandum to Union Minister Arjun Singh through the Governor of Jharkhand on May 24 to extend the party's solidarity to the issue.
